Position Title: Local Government Auditor

Strom & Associates, P.C. is currently looking for professional staff to provide auditing and accounting services for local governments throughout Montana. About Strom & Associates, P.C.:
Our practice specializes in governmental auditing, accounting, and technical assistance. We provide services to Montana School Districts, Cities, Towns, Counties, and Not-for-Profit Entities. Our practice has been operating since 1995 (27 years). We provide auditing, accounting, and consulting services to our governmental and not-for-profit clientele.
Benefits:
· We award paid time off (PTO) to full-time staff members (80 hours annually)
· 2080 work hours required annually
· We observe 7 holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, and Christmas)
· Health insurance is available and is paid under the Firm’s group plan at 75% of the total premium, whether it is an individual or family plan. Staff member becomes eligible after 60 days of employment. Staff members are responsible for paying the remaining 25% of the cost through payroll deduction.
· We contribute on a matching basis up to 3% of a staff member’s gross wages to the Firm-sponsored Simple IRA plan after 60 days of employment. Staff members are fully vested after 60 days of employment. Staff members may contribute additional amounts but are not required to contribute anything.
· Annual Continue Professional Education (CPE) costs are paid by the firm.
Responsibilities include the following:
· Performing audits of local governments (Schools, Towns, and Counties)
· Preparing financial statements
· Providing related consulting/ technical services to client base
· Maintaining strong client relations
· Maintaining strong working relationships
· Overnight travel is required for audit fieldwork depending on audit schedule
Qualifications:
Previous experience is not required. Local government and non-profit audit experience is a plus. If applicable, a training assignment is available, and we provide a great learning environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent.
CPA is not required. Higher advancement in the firm is available for those who do hold a CPA certification.
Requires a valid driver’s license
Ability to travel in the State of Montana.
Ability to work in rural locations with overnight stays.
Staff members are reimbursed for actual travel costs incurred on a per diem basis at the published governmental rates.
· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and other functions.
Knowledge obtained in the position (if applicant doesn’t already have prior experience):
· Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), especially as they relate to governmental accounting and non-profits
· Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements
· Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) statements
· Financial statement and note disclosure preparation and presentation, especially as they relate to governmental entities and non-profit organizations.
· Federal regulations pertaining Uniform Guidance
